Detectives from Gigiri have arrested a suspect captured in a viral video violently attacking and robbing a man in Parklands, Nairobi, alongside his accomplices.
The suspect, identified as Obed Makori, was arrested along the Northern Bypass following an intelligence-led operation after detectives linked him to the daring daylight robbery.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the gang attacked the victim, robbed him of his valuables and fled the scene.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly dropped a firearm, which was recovered by police and secured as an exhibit to aid investigations.
Makori had remained at large since the incident, evading arrest until detectives tracked him down and brought his run to an end.
He is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, detectives are pursuing additional leads to track down and arrest his accomplices, who remain at large.
The arrest follows the circulation of footage showing the brazen attack, which sparked concern among Kenyans over violent robberies in the capital.
The DCI has reiterated its commitment to pursuing violent offenders, dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that those responsible for attacks on innocent members of the public are brought to justice.
