The family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is once again in mourning following the death of his sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga.
Beryl Achieng Odinga passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment in Nairobi. Last month, during the passing of Raila Odinga, Beryl was reportedly unwell and was unable to attend his burial.
Beryl previously served as a town council clerk in Harare, Zimbabwe, where she resided for many years. She was married to a local politician named Ambala, who passed away in 1985; their marriage has been described by many as abusive.

Her death was confirmed by Raila Odinga’s eldest sister, Ruth Odinga, who wrote on social media:
“It is with heavy hearts, but accepting the will of God, that we announce the sudden passing of Beryl Achieng Odinga, daughter of the late Jaramogi Odinga and Mama Mary Ajuma Odinga, and sister to Oburu Odinga and Raila Odinga.”
Beryl Achieng Odinga’s passing comes just a month after the death of her brother, Raila Odinga, who succumbed to a heart attack in India.
It remains unclear whether Beryl will be laid to rest in Nairobi or Harare.
