Tension is high in Mathira after the mysterious disappearance of Lawrence Gachuru, a well-known political ground mobilizer and outspoken supporter of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
According to reports, Gachuru was last seen leaving his home to deposit money at a shop barely 200 meters away.
He never returned, and his whereabouts remain unknown, sparking fears that he may have been abducted.

Close associates revealed that Gachuru had recently voiced concerns for his safety, claiming that he had received direct threats from Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi.
The legislator allegedly warned that he would unleash goons on Gachuru for openly criticizing the government during public forums.
His sudden disappearance has caused panic among his family, colleagues, and the local political class, with many demanding swift investigations.
Residents now fear that political intimidation in the region is escalating into outright violence.
Police have launched a search for the missing mobilizer as pressure mounts on authorities to get to the bottom of the case.
