A rumour making the rounds on Tuesday had political circles buzzing with claims that Farouk Kibet, one of President William Ruto’s most powerful aides, had been expelled from State House over alleged misconduct and a notoriously sharp tongue.
The story spread fast. Hashtags trended on both X and Facebook, with users sharing what appeared to be an official State House document purportedly terminating Farouk’s services on grounds of indiscipline and conduct unbecoming of a senior aide to the Head of State. The viral post described Farouk, widely known as a standard two dropout who climbed to the inner circle of power, as having finally met his match.
But a closer look at the document raises immediate red flags. The fonts are inconsistent, the crest is incorrectly placed, and the overall formatting does not match genuine State House correspondence. It bears only a surface resemblance to official releases and falls apart under any basic scrutiny.
Farouk himself did not stay quiet. He dismissed the letter outright, insisting his relationship with President Ruto remains solid and that no amount of witch hunting or political intimidation can drive a wedge between them.
For now, the expulsion story appears to be nothing more than a well-crafted but ultimately sloppy fabrication, the kind that spreads quickly in Kenya’s politically charged social media environment before the facts catch up.
Farouk is still very much at State House. The letter is fake.
