The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications, Philip Etale, has provided an update on the health status of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is reportedly receiving treatment at King’s College Hospital London’s branch in Dubai.
According to reliable sources, Mr Odinga, 80, was admitted to the facility five days ago after leaving the country last Friday. Addressing growing public concern, Etale took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday to reassure Kenyans that the opposition leader is in good spirits.
“I have spoken with H.E. Raila Odinga just under five minutes ago. He is jovial and happy. He said, ‘I am seeing people spreading so much propaganda online; let’s keep praying for them,’” Etale wrote.

He further noted that Mr Odinga had sent his warm regards to Kenyans and would be returning home in the coming days.
Etale’s statement came amid heightened speculation about the ODM leader’s whereabouts and well-being, following his recent absence from public engagements. Mr Odinga was last seen on Friday before reportedly flying out of the country for what his secretariat described as a routine trip.

Last week, ODM postponed its 20th anniversary celebrations, originally scheduled for 10 October in Mombasa, to 12 October, prompting further rumours about his condition.
The party has since clarified that the former premier is not unwell and accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP–K leader Eugene Wamalwa of spreading falsehoods concerning Mr Odinga’s health.
