Former Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Investment Moses Kuria has openly acknowledged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently the undisputed political kingpin of the Mt. Kenya region.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday evening, October 11, Kuria—who also previously served as an advisor to President William Ruto—hailed Gachagua as the region’s emerging leader, praising his growing influence and ability to rally widespread support across Mt. Kenya.
Kuria admitted that Gachagua has evolved into a central figure in the region’s politics, commanding respect and attention from both leaders and ordinary citizens alike. He further predicted that Gachagua would soon earn the title of Mt. Kenya’s definitive political authority.
The outspoken politician also hinted at the possibility of joining forces with Gachagua in the near future, drawing parallels between Gachagua’s rise and past political alliances.
“To my brother Rigathi Gachagua, I am an honest man—you know that by now. It is an undeniable fact that the majority of our Mt. Kenya people listen to you. You are ahead of the rest of us. You are edging closer to being our undisputed kingpin in the mountain. In fact, just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon,” Kuria wrote.
Since his impeachment last year, Gachagua has staged a remarkable political comeback, rising from the ashes like the proverbial phoenix. He now enjoys what many describe as a near cult-like following in the Mt. Kenya region, widely regarded as Kenya’s largest and most influential voting bloc.
