A new opinion poll released on 11th December 2025 by Mizani Africa reveals a decisive shift in Kenya’s political landscape, with President William Ruto opening a commanding lead in the 2027 presidential race.
According to the findings, Ruto stands at a dominant 46.2%, placing him far ahead of his closest rivals and positioning him as the clear front-runner. The poll suggests that if elections were held today, he would have a strong chance of securing a first-round victory.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka follows in second place with 18.5%, emerging as the main challenger but still trailing by nearly 30 percentage points. Former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i comes in third with 15.9%, keeping the contest for second position competitive, though still significantly behind the incumbent.
Other candidates registered single-digit support, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua (6.1%), former Chief Justice David Maraga (1.2%), NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua (0.7%), Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah (0.6%), and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya (0.4%).
The survey further highlights a substantial 10.1% of undecided voters, signalling a potentially decisive bloc that could shift the trajectory of the race if effectively engaged.
Overall, the poll underscores a fractured opposition and a dominant early lead for President Ruto as the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election.
