Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Saturday surprised mourners at his aunt’s burial when he chased away a Catholic priest who was presiding over the burial.
For those who don’t know Oscar Sudi, he is a man who is close to President William Ruto and his personal aide, Farouk Kibet.

Since Ruto formed the government in 2022, Sudi is among the few Kenyans who wield a lot of power thanks to their proximity to the Head of State.

In fact, Sudi, who is only a mere MP, travels with chase cars and a security detail equivalent to that of a Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
During the burial of his aunt, Mama Pauline Chelimo Kipkore, Sudi urged the Catholic priest, who had stopped politicians from politicking during the burial, to walk out and let the mourners do politics.

At the graveside, Sudi was quoted telling:
“Mimi nataka niombe Kanisa tafadhali kwa heshima kubwa, hatujakuja kufrahi hapa na huyu senge nimeteseka naye sana, tunataka tumpatie heshima.”
(“I would like to ask the Church, please, with great respect, we have not come here to celebrate; I have suffered with her greatly and we want to give her the dignity she deserves.”)
Sudi further went ahead and challenged the priest to step aside if he was short of time.
“Nakama padri huna time tuko na padre wengine hapa unaweza enda padre mwingine aendelee.”
(“Padre, if you don’t have time, there are other priests here you can leave and another priest can continue,”) he said.
Here is the moment Oscar Sudi chased away a Catholic bishop from his aunt’s burial.
