Recent photographs have surfaced showing President William Ruto visiting his Koilel farm in Uasin Gishu County, and they have left many Kenyans, particularly residents of Tharaka Nithi County, astonished.
The Head of State, who was accompanied by Mogotio Member of Parliament Reuben Kiborek, was seen tending to his well-nourished Friesian cows. The animals appeared exceptionally healthy and well cared for, in stark contrast to the struggling conditions many Kenyans continue to face.
The images depict a modern, well-maintained ranch, complete with air-conditioned barns to regulate temperature—a luxury rarely afforded even in some public facilities. Observers could not help but remark that the president’s livestock seem to enjoy better living standards than some of the citizens he leads.
These photos emerged amid growing criticism of the government’s performance, particularly concerning the poor state of public primary schools in Tharaka Nithi County. Ironically, Tharaka Nithi is the home county of Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, yet it is among the regions with some of the most dilapidated learning institutions in the country.
A recent BBC documentary highlighted the dire conditions of several schools in the area, describing them as resembling “rat holes” due to their appalling state of disrepair.
Below are images showing President Ruto alongside his prized cows at the Koilel farm in Uasin Gishu County.
