Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, a billionaire by status, has surprised many Kenyans after photos emerged showing the modest hotel where he spent the night during the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo, Siaya County, last weekend.
While most delegates arrived on packed flights and booked themselves into some of the finest hotels in the Western region for Baba’s farewell, Uhuru chose a quieter and simpler path.
The former Head of State reportedly drove himself to a small hotel in Gem known as Little Gem Resort, where he spent two nights before returning to Nairobi to resume his busy schedule.
At the hotel, the Son of Jomo mourned not as a former president but as a friend bidding farewell to a brother—a man with whom he once shared laughter and the occasional drink.
