Maseno University fraternity is mourning the loss of a first-year student, Dorcah Mogaka, who was found dead on Monday night in what authorities suspect may have been a suicide.
She had been residing at Mara Hostels.
According to reports, the tragic incident has shocked students and staff, with many expressing grief and disbelief over her sudden death.
The loss has also heightened concern within the university community over what students describe as a worrying trend of deaths occurring under unclear circumstances.
In the past week alone, two other comrades are said to have died in suspected suicide cases, sparking conversations around mental health and the pressures facing students.
Student leaders and members of the fraternity are now calling for increased mental health support services, counseling, and open conversations to help those struggling silently.
University authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have urged students to seek help whenever they feel overwhelmed.
