Students at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) were left in deep shock after a 22-year-old student, Peter Hezy Peter from Kisii, was found dead in his rental house in Kakamega.
According to fellow students, Peter had been absent from class on Friday, raising concern among those who were close to him.
When repeated calls and messages went unanswered, his friends decided to visit his residence to check on him.
After getting no response at the door, they forced their way in and tragically discovered that he had passed away.
Friends say that in the days leading up to the incident, Peter had posted unusually emotional messages on his Facebook and WhatsApp accounts, prompting several classmates, including his friend Churchill Kipkoech, to try reaching out to him.
Police have since launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
The body has been moved to the morgue for further examination.
This is a heartbreaking loss for the MMUST community, and students have been urged to support one another and seek help whenever they feel overwhelmed.
