Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has reiterated her unwavering support for President William Ruto, pledging to back his leadership until the end of his term in 2032.
Addressing over 2,000 women from ten counties across the Mt. Kenya region on Thursday, Waiguru announced that through her newly launched political outfit, ‘Daughters of Kenya,’ she will actively campaign for President Ruto throughout his tenure.
However, Waiguru did not conceal her own political ambitions. She declared that once President Ruto’s term concludes, she intends to vie for the presidency herself, expressing confidence in her ability to lead the nation.
Highlighting her achievements in Kirinyaga County, Waiguru pointed to her development record as a testament to her leadership capabilities. She emphasized that this track record should inspire confidence in women’s leadership at the national level.
“I have heeded your call to travel across the country and rally women to support our agenda, but I cannot do it alone,” Waiguru said. “I need people to walk ahead of me, beside me, and behind me so that together we can build a great nation, with women fully engaged in shaping its future.”
Many women present at the event described Waiguru as a trailblazer who has surmounted numerous challenges to position herself as a unifying force among like-minded leaders. They praised her ability to translate local governance experience into national leadership potential.
The caucus formally endorsed Waiguru as the most suitable leader to champion the interests of Kenyan women at the highest level of government.
