One person has died following a serious road accident that occurred on Monday morning along Valley Road in Nairobi.
The crash involved a bus and several private vehicles and caused panic among motorists and pedestrians who witnessed the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was moving along the busy road when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle then crashed into multiple cars, triggering a chain collision that left several vehicles badly damaged.
The sudden impact created confusion on the road as drivers tried to avoid the crash while others stopped to check on the victims. Emergency responders quickly rushed to the scene to assist those involved. Police officers and rescue teams worked together to help the injured and manage traffic that had already begun to build up along the road.
The accident caused heavy congestion as many vehicles were forced to slow down or stop while authorities handled the situation.
Police confirmed that one person died during the accident. The victim was reportedly inside one of the vehicles that suffered severe damage during the crash. Authorities said the identity of the deceased had not been immediately released as investigations and identification procedures continued.
Several other people were injured in the collision. Some were passengers travelling in the bus, while others were occupants of the private vehicles that were hit. The injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals, where they received treatment.
Traffic police have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. Early reports suggest the accident may have been caused by brake failure or overspeeding, although officials say more investigations are needed before a final conclusion is reached.
The accident also caused major traffic disruption along Valley Road, which is an important route connecting the city centre to nearby neighbourhoods. Motorists were advised to use alternative roads as authorities cleared the wreckage and worked to restore normal traffic flow.
