Auctioneers Move to Sell Assets From Khalif Kairo’s Kai & Karo Office Over Rent Arrears

Office assets belonging to controversial car dealer Khalif Kairo’s Kai & Karo are set to be auctioned on March 11, 2026, at the Diamond Plaza parking lot in Nairobi over alleged rent arrears.

A public notice issued by Nairobi Connection Services Auctioneers indicates that several office items will be sold during the auction scheduled for 11:30 AM, with successful bidders required to pay in cash at the fall of the hammer.

Among the items listed for auction are reception counters, office chairs, computer monitors, desks, carpets, a printer, a water dispenser, a money-counting machine, shelves, and a small safe.

The notice comes shortly after Kairo announced that Kai & Karo would transition into a fully digital automotive platform, temporarily shutting down its physical office while continuing services such as vehicle listings, direct importation, and auto consultancy online.

However, the development has sparked speculation on social media, with critics linking the planned auction to possible financial difficulties facing the car dealer.

The Diamond Plaza showroom also carries a history of controversy.

The office space previously belonged to Kairo’s former business partner, Clement Victor Kinuthia, before the two reportedly fell out.

Following their fallout, Kairo took over the space in a dramatic fashion that quickly went viral online.

A widely shared video showed him arriving at Diamond Plaza in his Porsche Cayenne and using a sledgehammer to demolish Clement’s signage outside the office.

Some observers at the time speculated that Kairo may have taken over the office more out of personal rivalry than business necessity, given that he already operated a large car yard along Kiambu Road.
