President William Ruto’s influential aide, Farouk Kibet, has come out strongly against former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of undermining the Kenya Kwanza administration through constant criticism.

Speaking during a community empowerment forum in Daadab, Garissa County, Farouk urged Uhuru to keep out of active politics and allow the current government to deliver on its agenda without unnecessary interference.

Farouk, who was accompanied by senior Kenya Kwanza leaders, expressed displeasure over Uhuru’s recent remarks condemning Ruto’s leadership. According to Farouk, Uhuru has been discrediting the administration by portraying its policies as ineffective and short-term.

He went on to accuse the former Head of State of being uncomfortable with Ruto’s progress, suggesting that Uhuru fears the current president may outshine his legacy. Farouk further argued that Ruto has demonstrated the courage to implement bold reforms and projects that Uhuru failed to pursue during his tenure, adding that these decisive actions are a source of insecurity for the former president.

“Uhuru had his time in office but failed to deliver meaningful change. He is, therefore, not in a position to lecture this government. President Ruto is now correcting the mistakes made during Uhuru’s regime,” Farouk said.

The powerful aide also defended Ruto’s leadership, saying his first two years in office have been focused on fixing what he termed as missteps and mismanagement under Uhuru’s administration.

Uhuru, on the other hand, recently criticised the Kenya Kwanza government during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) held in Nairobi on Friday. He expressed deep concern over the direction the country is taking under Ruto’s leadership, accusing his successor of experimenting with governance rather than implementing well-thought-out policies.

The former president claimed that Ruto’s approach was creating confusion and leaving ordinary Kenyans worse off. As an example, he pointed to the dismantling of the Linda Mama programme, which was launched in 2013 to provide free maternity services for low-income expectant mothers.

The initiative had been integrated into the now-defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), but Uhuru argued that the government’s decision to restructure it had disrupted access to affordable maternal healthcare, leaving many vulnerable mothers without vital support.

As political temperatures continue to rise, Farouk’s fierce rebuttal signals a growing clash between Ruto’s camp and the former president, setting the stage for heightened political tensions ahead of the 2027 general election.
