Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has appealed to Kenyans to pray for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Oginga Odinga, claiming that the veteran politician is in critical condition while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Sonko made the emotional appeal after visiting the 85-year-old politician, who is reportedly receiving medical attention at the Nairobi-based facility.
According to the information provided, Oburu returned to Kenya last week after undergoing treatment in the United Kingdom. However, he reportedly developed health complications after arriving in the country and was taken to Nairobi Hospital, where he has remained admitted.
Sonko, who visited the veteran politician in hospital, expressed concern about his condition and urged Kenyans to pray for his recovery.
In his message, the former governor claimed that Oburu was receiving life support and experiencing serious medical complications involving his kidneys and blood pressure.
“Please let us pray for him. He is on life support, his kidneys have failed, and his blood pressure is dangerously low. May God heal him and grant him a miracle,” Sonko said.
The statement has raised concern among those following the health of the veteran politician, who remains a prominent figure in Kenya’s political landscape.
Oburu, the elder brother of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has played a significant role in Kenyan politics over several decades. His political career has included years of parliamentary service and leadership within the ODM party.
His reported hospitalisation comes at a time when the party and its supporters continue to navigate Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
Sonko’s appeal has placed renewed attention on the ODM leader’s health, with his message focusing on prayers and hopes for his recovery.
