A wave of political tension is brewing within the Kenya African National Union (KANU) after Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda openly expressed her disapproval of party chairman Gideon Moi’s decision to align himself with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a rare public statement directed at Moi, Lesuuda—who has long been one of KANU’s most loyal defenders—voiced her disappointment over what she described as a lack of communication and leadership from the party boss.

“My dear Chairman Hon. Gideon Moi, we have had many conversations in private and I have never addressed you in public, but the matter being discussed is of national importance,” she began.

Lesuuda acknowledged that Moi’s political choices, including whether to vie for the Baringo senatorial seat or which political alliance to join, remain his personal decision.

However, she emphasized that what has frustrated many of his loyal supporters is his silence and failure to provide clear direction on the party’s future.

“My only concern, and of many who have believed in you and the party, is your choice not to give direction and not to communicate on time about your decisions. We feel not listened to, not heard or felt,” she lamented.

In a heartfelt tone, Lesuuda urged Moi to reconnect with his supporters and show empathy during a period when many are feeling politically abandoned.

“Chairman, address your supporters on your decision. Lead with empathy. Carry us along,” she appealed, adding, “Wakurusha mawe warushe, hii Kenya ni yetu sisi wote and all voices must be heard. We must be tolerant of each other.”
