Orengo Reveals Latest Health Update Of Raila Odinga Who Is Hospitalised In Dubai

Siaya County Governor James Orengo has provided an update on the health of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is reportedly receiving treatment at King’s College Hospital’s Dubai branch.

Raila Odinga is said to have travelled abroad about two weeks ago. According to circulating reports, the 80-year-old statesman is undergoing medical care, though close aides have repeatedly dismissed claims that he is critically ill.

Speaking during an interview with NTV on Wednesday, Orengo sought to clarify the matter, saying Raila has nothing to conceal from Kenyans regarding his health. The governor noted that, unlike many political figures, the ODM leader has always been transparent about his medical condition.

“In my view, Raila is fine. I know he is well,” Orengo affirmed. “Unlike many leaders, when Raila falls ill, he openly speaks about it. Whenever he has been admitted to a hospital, it has always been a matter of public record. People should stop speculating. Even when he has sought treatment locally, it has never been a secret. It’s just like when I took some time off and people began spreading rumors that I was dead.”

Orengo’s remarks not only defended his party leader but also drew a parallel to his own past experience. Earlier in the year, he had become the subject of similar online speculation after taking an extended break from public engagements.

At the time, social media platforms were awash with unfounded reports claiming he was seriously unwell or had passed away. The persistent rumours gained traction due to silence from county officials until Raila Odinga himself intervened to refute the false claims.

Now, as the situation appears to repeat itself, Orengo has stepped forward to calm fears and dismiss misinformation surrounding the ODM leader’s health.
