Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s husband, George Wanga, has been officially appointed the new Managing Director of the Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB).
Wanga, who previously worked at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), was named by President William Ruto to lead the state publisher for a three-year term.
In his new role, he will oversee KLB’s daily operations, guide policy implementation, and drive the organisation’s long-term growth.
Established in 1980, KLB remains a key institution responsible for publishing, printing, and distributing educational materials, including curriculum-based textbooks used across the country.
George Wanga assumed office on Wednesday, November 26, after meeting Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok at his Nairobi office.
During their meeting, Wanga pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Ministry of Education and reaffirmed KLB’s commitment to supporting the advancement of basic education.
He emphasised the agency’s readiness to deliver high-quality learning materials that match curriculum needs and ongoing reforms in the education sector. PS Bitok welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Wanga’s leadership would enhance the rollout of competency-based learning nationwide.
