President William Ruto on Monday stunned the public after making explosive allegations against his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of being involved in the killing of a university student he allegedly impregnated.
Speaking in Busia County during his three-day tour of the Western region, Ruto did not hold back. He claimed that his former deputy, whom he also labelled a thief, impregnated a young university student before allegedly orchestrating her murder to conceal the affair.
The president’s remarks come barely a week after fresh claims surfaced from Gachagua’s former communications director, Martha J.M. Miano, who ignited debate online with a series of controversial allegations.
In a post shared on her Facebook page, Miano accused Gachagua of targeting young women aged between 20 and 23, particularly those from humble backgrounds. According to her, such women are often vulnerable and easily drawn in due to his influence and position in society.
She further alleged that some of these relationships resulted in pregnancies, after which the women allegedly faced intimidation.
In an even more shocking claim, Miano suggested that Gachagua may have been involved in the deaths of two women he allegedly impregnated. One of the alleged victims, she claimed, was a 23-year-old who was the sole breadwinner of her family, leaving her relatives without the financial means to seek justice.
“You are worse than Satan,” she wrote in a strongly worded conclusion that has since fueled widespread reactions online.
