Veteran entertainment journalist John Muchiri has revealed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua failed to attend the much hyped Wema Festival in the UK after the event organizers demanded Ksh 3.5 million for him to adress the crowd.

Read Muchiri’s full post on Facebook below.

So, earlier this month, the first ever Murima Festival held in the UK’s city of Milton Keynes, was supposed to be graced by Kiana Gia Simba, aka Riggy G.

But he did not show up. Instead, he sent his soldiers Methu and Kanini Kega to represent him, citing busy schedules while organizing party politics in the upcoming Ol Kalau by elections.

A week after the festival, Kiana Gia Simba managed to land in the UK.

The tour organizers had a dinner planned to meet Kenyans living in diaspora. Nothing major, just closed events with limited number of people.

So for the last two weeks, that’s what has been happening.

However, there was Wendo Festival last weekend in Bedford, where Mugithi musicians like Waithaka Wa Jane and Tony Young were performing.

A larger crowd than the few dinner meetings he has been having. A perfect venue for such a politician to address the crowd.

But then again, he did not show up. Why?

According to very reliable sources, the handlers of Riggy G reached out to the organizers on his possibility to attend the event and address the crowd.

But the organizers, had other ideas. For Riggy G to address the crowd, he was to pay the organizers about £20,000 (about Sh3.5 million) first.

Pesa kidogo sana hio kwa Riggy G. But wait a minute, why would a politician of such caliber pay to address Kenyans? It didn’t sound right.

So the handlers said it doesn’t work like that. But the organizers stood firm. Either he pays and address the crowd, or just show up like any other regular person, pay £30 at the gate and enjoy the show like everyone else.

Ni mbaaaaya.

A lot of things not adding up. This is a developing story. I will find out more and update.
