Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin has revealed the identity of the police officer alleged to have pulled the trigger in the fatal shooting of Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
Speaking while addressing the press, Amin said a thorough analysis of evidence had enabled investigators to identify the officer allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting.
The officer has been identified as PC Elijah Kibelion Kimoi, who was attached to Karinde Police Post under Kikuyu Police Station.
Amin said Kimoi had been arrested as detectives continued investigations into the circumstances surrounding Dr. Mutiso’s death.
“Thorough analysis of evidence has further established the identity of the officer who pulled the trigger. One PC Elijah Kibelion Kimoi, attached to Karinde Police Post under Kikuyu Police Station, has equally been arrested,” Amin said.
The DCI boss further disclosed that forensic evidence had been used to place Kimoi at the scene of the fatal shooting.
“We were able to forensically place him to the scene of the fatal shooting. He is the individual identified as having fatally shot Dr Mutiso,” Amin added.
The revelation marks a major development in the investigation, with detectives expected to establish what transpired before, during and after the shooting.
Kimoi’s arrest is also expected to allow investigators to examine additional evidence and obtain further statements from witnesses who may have been present at the scene.
