Former President William Ruto’s economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has sensationally claimed that the government is paying United Democratic Alliance(UDA) Members of Parliament to join the Democracy For Citizens Party, which is owned by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Currently, the most popular political party in the Mt Kenya region is DCP, whose popularity was catapulted last month after the party won the Ol Kalou by-election. DCP defeated UDA, which, according to the government, had spent Sh15 billion during the high-stakes by-election.
With UDA’s popularity in the mountain dwindling, some UDA MPs have started expressing their discontent with the ruling party, saying they want to ditch it. Already, Lamu Woman Representative Muthoni Marubu and Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe have ditched the wheelbarrow party and are preparing to join DCP.
But in a post on X, Kuria said that in the next 90 days, more UDA MPs will join DCP after being paid handsomely by the government.
Kuria said the MPs who will ditch UDA will have a lot of money, and they will win DCP nominations, which favours the well-moneyed.
“Today, 12th August 2026 marks a new phase in the 2027 politics. For the next 90 days, the government will release elected leaders in the Mt Kenya region to defect to DCP. And they are not going there empty-handed. With their handsome exit bonus, winning DCP nominations will not be a big deal. Winning the war is more important than winning the battle. Mambo ni Mwecheche. Hizo bags ziko na something more than Alele Mtoto,” Kuria wrote on X on Wednesday.
