President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027 has suffered an immense blow after Gatundu South Member of Parliament Gabriel Kagombe ditched the party on Tuesday.
Kagombe, who was President William Ruto’s point man in the Mt Kenya region, said after listening to the ground, he has realised that he has been riding on a dead horse.
Kagombe said though he has stuck with Ruto for four years, all the President has been doing is lying to them without fulfilling what he promised the Mt Kenya region, such as finishing the Mau Mau Road, among other promises.
“I don’t think we can go into another election with UDA. And here, I don’t think we will be able to listen to anything from Ruto anymore. He has lied to us too much, lies that we can no longer tolerate,” Kagombe said.
Kagombe also explained that his decision to exit UDA was not motivated by personal differences with President William Ruto. “It is not personal with President Ruto. It is what the people have said, and the people have a reason why they have said what they have said,” the Gatundu South MP stated.
Further, Kagombe called out the Ruto government for failing to fix poor roads in Gatundu South. “I am a director at KTDA, having been elected by the farmers. We have had problems in the past. You have to transport tea from farms to the factory. As a director, I have appropriated a lot of farmers’ money to fix the roads where the government has failed to fix them,” Kagombe claimed.
This comes a day after Lamu Woman Representative Muthoni Marubu withdrew her intention to join the UDA party.
