Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has paid an emotional tribute to his late father, Domnic Owino, and former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga, describing both men as heroes who shaped his life in different ways.
In a heartfelt Mashujaa Day message, Babu recalled losing his father while he was in Class Three, saying he still remembers how hard he worked to provide for the family and take care of them.
“Growing up without you was not easy, but God has been faithful to us. Dad, I wish you were here to see the person I have become,” Babu wrote, adding that he would always cherish the memories and love his father left behind.
He also paid tribute to Raila Odinga, who allowed him to serve under his leadership and became more than a political leader to him.
Babu described Raila as a father, mentor and adviser whom he could always turn to for guidance.
He thanked the late former Prime Minister for believing in young people and giving them an opportunity to learn from his leadership, noting that his contribution to Kenya’s political journey would never be forgotten.
“Baba, we miss you. Your legacy lives on in the people you mentored and the generations you inspired. Wewe ni shujaa wangu,” he said.
Babu concluded by celebrating all fathers who sacrifice daily for their families, as well as those whose memories continue to live on in the hearts of their loved ones.
