Roselyne Akombe Warns Kenyans: “Don’t Fall for Sifuna’s Politics—Stop Being Gullible!”

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Dr. Roselyne Akombe has issued a sharp warning to Kenyans, urging them to be cautious about the political leaders they choose to support—especially ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Her remarks come just days after Sifuna held a massive rally in Kitengela over the weekend, attracting thousands of supporters under the banner of the “Linda Mwananchi Tour.” The event was charged with anti-government chants and songs, with many attendees viewing it as a bold stand against President William Ruto’s administration.

But according to Akombe, the situation may not be as straightforward as it appears.

In a strongly worded statement shared after the rally, Akombe suggested that Sifuna could be part of a wider political scheme ahead of the 2027 general election. She claimed that the drama surrounding his recent removal by the ODM National Executive Committee—and his reinstatement through the courts—might be carefully orchestrated.

Akombe went as far as alleging that Sifuna could be President Ruto’s “project,” designed to lure Kenyans into believing he is a fearless liberator fighting the system.

“The games are being played,” she warned, saying politicians often “manufacture” a charismatic messiah, throw a few tear gas canisters at him, and then present him as a hero of the people.

She argued that Kenyans, drawn to political drama, often fall for such tricks—only to be shocked later when the same leaders reconcile behind closed doors, shake hands, and share power while ordinary citizens remain stuck with hardship.

Akombe, who is currently living in exile, urged Kenyans to stop being gullible and to understand that unless citizens resist the system itself, politicians will always benefit at the expense of the common mwananchi.

Her message was clear: Kenyans must stay alert, think critically, and avoid being used as pawns in political games.
