Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Ombane Gisairo, a fierce critic of President William Ruto, has revealed that he and his driver were involved in a night accident while travelling to Nairobi from his constituency.
In a statement, Gisairo said their vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max (KDX 961T), which he claims is registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior.
The pickup reportedly lost control and rolled onto the road shoulder, but Gisairo’s driver managed to safely bring their vehicle to a stop despite losing the rear right tyre.
The MP said they assisted the two occupants of the other vehicle, who were shortly afterwards whisked away in a GK vehicle (GKB 787J) before traffic police officers who had arrived at the scene could complete the proper procedures.
Gisairo confirmed that he had reported the matter to the relevant agencies, which are cooperating with investigations.
He further claimed that the Ministry had identified the two occupants of the vehicle, together with the other ministry officers who allegedly took them away from the scene.
The MP said he believes the matter will be fully addressed and that any officers found culpable will be disciplined in accordance with the law.
Most importantly, Gisairo assured his supporters that he and his team were safe, although they suffered muscle pulls from absorbing the impact.
“To all my supporters, I thank you for the overwhelming concerns and messages. I love you all. Sasa tujenge taifa pamoja,” he said.
