Another young man from Nairobi’s Mathare informal settlement has reportedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances, adding to growing concerns over a series of alleged abductions in the area.

The missing man has been identified as Evans Otieno Omondi, who reportedly vanished on Tuesday, June 22, after he was last seen along the Ruai Bypass.

According to residents, Evans was well known in the area as a boda boda rider.

His disappearance comes amid claims that security agencies are conducting an operation targeting suspected notorious criminals and drug dealers believed to be operating in Mathare and the neighboring Huruma area, with some using legitimate businesses as a cover.

In recent weeks, several young men from the two estates have reportedly gone missing, with residents alleging that they were taken away by suspected security operatives.
