Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has claimed that he has spent approximately Ksh 70 million on the medical treatment of DJ Evolve, stating that he has even taken loans to cater for the costs.

Speaking during an interview on TV47, the outspoken MP said that despite public criticism over his past, he has continued to support DJ Evolve’s medical needs.

“People say in a working state I should be in jail, I agree I should be in jail but I have been taking care of DJ Evolve’s medical bills. I have taken loans, I have spent close to Ksh 70 million in his treatment,” Babu Owino stated.

Babu Owino was accused of shooting DJ Evolve in the neck in January 2020 following a disagreement at a high-end entertainment club in Nairobi, an incident that left the deejay with serious injuries.

About three years ago, the MP was acquitted on a charge of misuse of a firearm in connection with the shooting.

The acquittal followed a two-year legal battle in which the court found that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence linking him directly to the incident.

The court further noted that there were no eyewitnesses and no forensic evidence presented to conclusively support the prosecution’s case.
