A team of detectives from the DCI Headquarters has arrested two suspects linked to a criminal gang believed to be behind a series of violent robberies reported in the Ruai and Kamulu areas.
According to investigators, one of the incidents was reported on June 11, 2026, when the suspects, together with accomplices who are still at large, allegedly broke into a residence in Ruai and held a family hostage while demanding money and valuables.
During the ordeal, members of the household were subjected to physical violence and other traumatic experiences.
The gang reportedly forced the victims to transfer money through mobile banking before stealing electronic devices and other valuables and fleeing the scene.
In a separate incident in Kamulu, the suspects stormed another home and held the occupants captive as they searched for valuables.
They are said to have forced the victims to transfer money from their mobile phones and bank accounts.
During the attack, a neighbour who responded to the commotion sustained fatal injuries as the suspects made their escape.
Following intensive investigations, detectives arrested 39-year-old Shadrack Nyandieka Nyakwaba at Tassia Estate in Embakasi.
A second suspect, Monica Nyangau Sarange, was arrested in Utawala after investigators linked her to the movement of the stolen funds.
The two suspects are currently being held in police custody pending arraignment as detectives continue pursuing other members of the gang who remain at large.
