Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reacted to a petition filed by the family of the late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua, who are seeking President William Ruto’s intervention in an alleged disinheritance dispute within the family.

Taking to his X account, Duale invoked both Qur’anic and biblical teachings, emphasizing the protection of vulnerable members of society, particularly widows and orphans.

“The Quran says, in Surah An-Nisa, 4:10: ‘Those who unjustly consume an orphan’s wealth are, in effect, consuming fire and will face a blazing Hell,’” Duale wrote.

He further referenced a verse from Exodus, stating: “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry” (Exodus 22:22-23), highlighting the moral duty to safeguard the vulnerable.

In their letter addressed to the President through the Attorney General, the late Nderitu Gachagua’s family alleges that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua interfered with the succession process through intimidation, manipulation, and fraudulent dealings.

They claim this resulted in the irregular transfer of assets and financial losses to the rightful beneficiaries.

The family has also raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the execution of the will, stating that the late Gachagua was critically ill and bedridden at the time, suffering from metastatic pancreatic cancer.
