Police in Kiambu have launched investigations after a 41-year-old Family Bank employee was drugged before his vehicle was stolen during a drinking spree at the Administration Police (AP) Canteen in Kiambu.
According to information captured in a police Occurrence Book (OB), the victim, identified as Samuel Muchiri, an employee at Family Bank’s Kiambu Branch, had gone to the AP Canteen on Saturday afternoon for drinks.
While enjoying his time at the establishment, two men reportedly approached him and joined him at his table.
The three are said to have continued drinking together for some time.
However, the afternoon took a dramatic turn when Muchiri lost consciousness after he is believed to have been drugged.
He later regained consciousness only to discover that his vehicle had been stolen.
The circumstances surrounding the theft remain under investigation, with detectives seeking to establish the identities of the two men who had been drinking with him before he blacked out.
The incident has been reported at Kiambu Police Station, where officers have opened investigations into the suspected drugging and motor vehicle theft.
Detectives are expected to review CCTV footage from the area, interview witnesses, and trace the stolen vehicle as efforts to apprehend those responsible continue.
The case serves as a reminder for members of the public to exercise caution when socializing with unfamiliar individuals, especially in entertainment venues, as criminals continue to employ sophisticated methods to target unsuspecting victims.
