Land Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has publicly criticized Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale over his recent remarks referring to members of the Kikuyu community as “hyenas,” demanding that he withdraw the statement and issue an apology.
In a strongly worded statement shared on X, Wahome said Duale’s comments had “brought out the worst” in him and faulted his refusal to apologize despite calls from various quarters.
“Hon Aden Duale CS, your recent remarks against the Kikuyu Community have brought out the worst in you. You have been called to apologise but you said no because, according to you, other people have made worse mistakes,” Wahome wrote.
She dismissed Duale’s justification for not apologizing, saying the mistakes of others could not excuse his own remarks.
“Let me respond to you after all I’m also a hyena. Two wrongs don’t make a right and only a fool who does not change his or her mind,” she added.
Wahome urged the Health CS to retract his comments and offer what she described as a sincere and profuse apology to the Kikuyu community.
“You should withdraw your remarks and apologise profusely,” she concluded.
