Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to the attack on a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) campaign truck in Gilgil, accusing security agencies of orchestrating political violence ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Gachagua claimed that while the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) had been assuring the public of adequate security in Ol Kalou, a special police unit from Nairobi was allegedly behind the attack on the DCP campaign vehicle.
“As the DIG is making a litany of promises for high-level security in Olkolou, his Nairobi Sierra Killer Squad is wrecking havoc in Olkalou. They have this afternoon attacked DCP sound truck with guns and teargas. Goon Nation. New Haiti!” Gachagua wrote.
The DCP campaign truck was reportedly attacked and partially set ablaze at Pembroke Bridge in Gilgil on Saturday, with party officials alleging that armed individuals intercepted the vehicle and abducted the driver.
