Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a statement after President William Ruto and his troops allegedly hired goons to pose as women of the AIPCA church on Sunday in Igegania, Gatundu South.
During the controversial church service, goons from Kiandutu and other slums in Nairobi pretended to be AIPCA church members from Igegania, Gatundu North. The group, comprising men and women, was reportedly hired by Ruto’s associates, led by Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia and Thika Town MP Alice Nganga.
In a lengthy statement on Wednesday, Gachagua described the move as blasphemous and accused President William Ruto of disrespecting the church and AIPCA worshippers.

“He came with the Holy Bible and tears. He sang all vernacular songs. He memorized all vernacular greetings across the country. He spoke in tongues. He went to all villages. He memorized all roads and routes in every village and town. He had a coquettish laughter. He donated Kshs 2M every Sunday.
His charm was undeniable. With every smile and every gesture, he convinced us that he was one of us, a man of the people. He attended funerals, weddings, and community events—always present, always attentive, always listening. Every handshake, every nod, every tear he shed seemed genuine. Yet behind this façade lay a calculated strategy to gain our trust, to win our votes, and to secure power at any cost.
He conned all of us. Being Christians, we all fell for his antics and gave him our votes.
We truly believed he was saved and happily made him the candidate for the Church of Christ. We elected him and were victims of the greatest electoral fraud since independence.
After taking over, he shed the pretense and displayed his true colours. He couldn’t pretend anymore.
Our children were abducted and slaughtered. For those who survived, he ordered that they be shot in the leg before being sent to prison on terrorism charges. He supervised the looting of national wealth, plundered public resources, and sold strategic public assets for a song.
He destroyed the education system, mocked our health system, and refused to settle pending bills. He raided payslips, making the working class beggars in their own country. He sent the National Police Service to Haiti on a benchmarking trip to learn how to work with criminal gangs, and now goons are a fully-fledged department of the National Police Service.
Cornered and exposed by the church, HE IS BACK with trickery and treachery. Knowing that genuine Christians cannot buy his antics, he has become very imaginative and extremely creative at the altar—ferrying goons and cheerleaders to churches using school buses.
Pat them a thousand bob each. Increase church donations from Kshs 2M to Kshs 20M. For the congregation to appear organic, he has acquired headgears and dresses for all denominations, including the Women’s Guild, Mothers Union, and Mothers Council. Full containers are ready for use every Sunday; these are given to women goons and even men with instructions to cheer him in church and shout TUTAM. This is done in agreement with some greedy bishops who are not even preaching but campaigning.
I am glad this shame cannot be entertained in the Catholic Church, PCEA, and ACK, as well as several Pentecostal and Evangelical churches.
Looking at this desperation, I remember an African proverb that says, ‘When the death of a monkey is imminent, all trees are slippery.’
The man has destroyed our BEAUTIFUL KENYA, and he is now promising us an IMAGINARY SINGAPORE!,”
