Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Cleophas Malala has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of abandoning the Kenya Kwanza agenda and mishandling the affairs of the country.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Malala said the opposition’s agenda goes beyond removing Ruto from office, arguing that the focus should also be on addressing what he described as failures of the current administration.
“We have an agenda beyond removing William Ruto. I was his SG; I was the custodian of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto,” Malala said.
The former UDA official said that during his tenure, he was responsible for monitoring the implementation of promises contained in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
“By the time I was leaving office, we had 172 promises broken down from the plan,” he said.
Malala accused Ruto of losing direction after taking office, alleging that the government had become increasingly hostile towards young people and critics.
“Ruto lost his mind, went to the streets, started killing young people, abducting them; he eroded the social fabric, and he made the presidency look like a joke,” Malala claimed.
He further accused the President of becoming increasingly confrontational and micromanaging various government departments.
“He started abusing everybody; he started micromanaging every department and experimenting ideas without proper feasibility studies,” Malala said.
