Raila Odinga’s longtime aide, Dennis Onyango, has made explosive revelations about the former Prime Minister’s 2022 presidential campaign, praising some key figures for their loyalty while sharply criticizing others he believes failed the Azimio team.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Onyango singled out Suna East MP Junet Mohamed as one of Raila’s most trusted and dependable political allies throughout the campaign period.
According to Onyango, Junet remained loyal to Raila and worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the presidential bid despite accusations from some quarters that he may have sabotaged the campaign.
“Junet was Raila’s person,” Onyango said, while defending the outspoken legislator from criticism.
He also praised Royal Media Services chairman Dr. SK Macharia, saying the media mogul genuinely wanted Raila to clinch the presidency and fully supported the Azimio campaign.
“Junet and SK Macharia really wanted Raila to win,” Onyango stated.
However, Onyango did not hold back when speaking about former Azimio La Umoja campaign secretariat member Prof. Makau Mutua.
In a scathing attack, Onyango accused Mutua of failing to contribute meaningful political strategies to the campaign, claiming he added little value and may even have derailed parts of the team’s efforts.
“I cannot forgive Makau Mutua. I don’t think Makau Mutua added value to Raila’s campaign. To this very day I believe he derailed us,” Onyango said.
