A 26-year-old man was arrested by DCI officers after destroying his wife’s passport at Moi International Airport in Mombasa, moments before she was scheduled to fly to Saudi Arabia.
According to an OB report, Bakari Omar Myega was arrested after his wife, Rukia Dama, reported that he had unlawfully damaged her passport at around 6:45pm on Monday.
The incident interfered with Rukia’s travel arrangements to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where she was scheduled to travel.
The DCI Airport Unit, which is handling investigations into the incident, established that the passport had been damaged, affecting the woman’s scheduled journey.
Myega is currently in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.
