A Kenyan woman living in the United States has shared her emotional journey to motherhood after finally welcoming her first child following 45 years of waiting.

The woman, identified on Facebook as Suzzie Blessed, announced the birth of her baby boy, Baraka Waithaka, describing the moment as the greatest joy of her life despite years of being told she might never conceive.

“The moment I felt true love. Holding the fruit of my womb was the best thing that has ever happened to me. History was written. Many wrote me off as barren but God has finished the script,” she wrote.

Suzzie also expressed a bittersweet feeling, wishing her parents were alive to witness the milestone after decades of hope and prayers.

However, the birth came with anxious moments.

She revealed that immediately after delivery, her baby was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as doctors continued with her C-section surgery.

She recounted the emotional experience of hearing her newborn cry briefly before being taken away by medical staff, leaving her lying on the operating table unable to follow.

Despite the frightening ordeal, Suzzie said she held on to faith and prayed for her baby’s recovery as doctors worked to stabilise him.
