Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is funding the Linda Mwananchi faction, in which Siaya Governor James Orengo is a key member.
Speaking during a press briefing, Kaluma claimed that on August 14, 2026, a total of Ksh 100 million was delivered to Governor Orengo’s home in Ugenya, Siaya.
The money, which he claims was in two briefcases, was from the former President.
“The money was in two briefcases. Each briefcase had Ksh 50 million. I challenge Orengo to deny this,” Kaluma said.
According to the vocal MP, although Orengo was not present at the time, the money was received by his handlers.
The cash was reportedly delivered to Orengo’s home in Kisumu’s Milimani estate the following day.
Kaluma further alleged that the money was meant to fund Linda Mwananchi rallies in Homa Bay.
“On 14th August 2026, at night, Ksh 100 million was delivered to Governor Orengo’s home in Ugenya, Siaya from Uhuru Kenyatta and this money was delivered in two suitcases, each carrying Ksh 50 million,” he said during the presser.
Kaluma’s remarks come amid growing speculations that the former President has been funding the opposition.
President William Ruto, while speaking at a roadside rally in Eldoret a few days ago, also accused Uhuru of giving money to the Linda Mwananchi faction led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
