Police officers from Miwani Police Station have launched investigations after recovering suspected narcotics from a vehicle involved in an accident at Ombeyi Junction along the Chemelil–Miwani–Kisumu Road.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on June 7, 2026, when a white Mazda CX-5 registration number KDX 905A reportedly veered off the road before rolling into a ditch.

Members of the public who arrived at the scene rescued the occupants and later informed police officers about the accident.

However, by the time police arrived, the occupants had already fled the scene under unclear circumstances.

A thorough search and processing of the vehicle revealed that it was transporting cannabis sativa.

The suspected narcotics were recovered and secured as exhibits, while the vehicle was towed to Miwani Police Station for further examination and investigations.

Police are now pursuing leads to identify the occupants who escaped after the crash and determine the source and intended destination of the narcotics.
