A police officer attached to the Administration Police Service’s SGB Unit and currently serving as the driver to Livestock Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation.
The officer, a police corporal, was apprehended by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kasarani on Sunday following investigations into the shooting of Hillary Kibet in Nairobi.
According to police, detectives recovered a Ceska pistol loaded with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition during a search conducted after the arrest.
The firearm and ammunition were seized as exhibits.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged with attempted murder contrary to Section 220 of the Penal Code.
Police said the recovered firearm will undergo ballistic examination to determine whether it was used in the shooting.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
