Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Faces Eviction From its Lavington Headquarters Over Unpaid Rent

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) is on the verge of eviction from its Lavington headquarters after the landlord issued a notice demanding that the party vacate the premises over unpaid rent arrears.

According to the landlord, the party has defaulted on quarterly rent payments as stipulated in the lease agreement.

Despite repeated reminders, DCP officials are said to have dodged communication and given endless excuses.

“We have made every effort to engage them, but they keep taking us in circles. Mr. Gachagua himself has not been picking calls,” the landlord lamented.

Sources within the party confirmed that staff members have gone for more than three months without pay, with some reportedly sleeping in the office after being locked out of their houses due to unpaid rent.

“There is no money coming through. We have been working without salaries, and even basic office operations have stalled,” one frustrated staff member said.

“We hear millions are being collected from aspirants, but nothing reaches the office.”

Insiders further allege that Gachagua has been collecting hundreds of millions of shillings from aspirants and well-wishers, yet failing to allocate funds to party operations.

Aspirants are reportedly required to contribute Ksh 1 million monthly to sustain party activities, but the money is allegedly being mismanaged.

The worsening financial crisis has sparked growing discontent among party members, with fears that the turmoil could cripple DCP’s preparations ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The looming eviction now adds to a series of internal challenges rocking Gachagua’s camp, fueling concerns of poor leadership, mismanagement, and dwindling support within the party.
