Ruto Asks Allies Not To Attack Uhuru Over SHA Criticism

President William Ruto has silenced his attack dogs, who have been attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta after he attacked the Kenya Kwanza Alliance administration over the untested and faulty Social Health Authority (SHA).

Uhuru, who spoke during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Ngong Racecourse last week, called out Ruto for running the country with supposedly inefficient policies that have left Kenyans suffering.

In particular, Uhuru blasted Ruto for replacing his Linda Mama Initiative with what he called the untested Linda Jamii Programme which falls under SHA.

Uhuru’s sentiments attracted a rebuttal from Ruto’s allies, who came out gunblazing at Uhuru.

Led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the president’s loyalists faulted Uhuru for inciting the country against the current regime, which they argued was progressing well.

They concluded that Uhuru did not have the moral authority to fault Ruto’s regime when his was supposedly messy and inefficient.

But speaking on Tuesday when he presided the launch of Umma University, Ruto chose peace, acknowledging that there is a lot to learn from his predecessor’s tenure, even with his tough criticism of the regime after his.

Dwelling on the debate of the Linda Mama programme, Ruto recognized Uhuru for having started a noble initiative, adding that what the Kenya Kwanza regime has done to it is an improvement and not an abolition, as Uhuru had suggested.

“I take this time to defend my former boss. We should be a bit magnanimous to him. He did his time, led our country, and the Linda Mama programme was a great programme. We developed it under the Jubilee administration, under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta. We learnt a lot from the Linda Mama programme. And because of the experiences, because of the lessons learned, we designed the Linda Jamii programme, which was an improvement on the Linda Mama programme. So, Linda Mama was good, but Linda Jamii is obviously better,” Ruto said.

The father of the nation said the Linda Jamii programme had widened the scope of beneficiaries compared to what Linda Mama was initially intended for.
