President William Ruto has launched a scathing attack on former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, accusing him of using the Standard Media Group to wage a sustained propaganda campaign against his administration.
In a strongly-worded statement posted on his social media platforms, Ruto claimed that negative headlines published by The Standard are part of an attempt to blackmail his government into yielding to what he described as personal interests and greed.
The President dismissed the criticism directed at his administration, insisting that his government remains focused on delivering its transformative agenda for Kenyans despite relentless attacks from its critics.
“GMoi, your STANDARD media’s 5 days a week EXTORTIONIST propaganda HEADLINES on me & my administration’s transformative track record will get you NOTHING & NOWHERE,” Ruto wrote.
He further accused Gideon Moi of trying to use the media house as a tool for blackmail, vowing that he would not bow to pressure.
“BLACKMAIL to yield to your GREED? NEVER. Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, not you alone,” the President added.
In a defiant tone, Ruto challenged Gideon and the media outlet to intensify their criticism if they wished.
“Jaribu 8 days a week. Do your WORST,” he concluded.
The remarks are the latest escalation in the long-running political rivalry between Ruto and the Moi family.
The Standard Media Group, which is associated with the Moi family, has in recent months published a series of hard-hitting headlines scrutinizing the Kenya Kwanza administration over various issues, including the economy, governance, and public policy.
