New details emerging from investigations into the death of Charity Kitur, a teacher at Chebisas Boys High School, indicate that she was the victim of a violent assault before her death.
According to findings presented after investigations concluded yesterday, Charity was allegedly choked and forced to ingest a poisonous substance by her boyfriend, Bob Kosgei.
Investigators also recovered a Dasani water bottle containing an unidentified substance.
The doctor who conducted the postmortem reportedly concluded that the substance was consistent with the damage found in Charity’s stomach.
The investigation further established that Charity had allegedly been struck twice on the head with a blunt object, adding another dimension to the circumstances surrounding her death.
Charity was the eldest daughter in her family and had recently secured employment through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
She was working at Chebisas Boys High School and had become an important source of support for her family.
Her death has therefore left not only a grieving family, colleagues and friends, but also a family that had looked to her newly established career for financial support.

Kosgei was previously reported to have died by suicide following Charity’s death.
