Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has alleged that the Ksh 65 million seized from Nairobi County Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning, Patrick Analo, during a raid by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) was proceeds from what he termed a “single day’s loot.”
In a post shared on his Facebook page, the vocal MCA claimed he had previously raised concerns about alleged corruption within the department headed by Analo.
“I always told you about Patrick Analo. That whole department is a mess,” Alai wrote.
He further alleged that following news of the raid, senior officials within the department rushed to conceal money suspected to have been obtained through corrupt activities.
“They heard about the raid, and all the seniors jumped on Uber and boda bodas to hide the loot they had at home,” he claimed.
Alai added that the Ksh 65 million recovered represented only a fraction of what he suggested could be daily proceeds from corruption within the department.
“Remember that the KSh 65 million found is from a single day’s loot,” he added.
Analo was arrested after EACC detectives raided his Syokimau residence, where they reportedly recovered millions of shillings in cash stashed in briefcases.
The anti-graft agency stated that the operation forms part of ongoing investigations into allegations of conflict of interest, abuse of office, bribery, and possession of unexplained wealth involving the senior county official.
Analo was taken into custody to assist investigators as the probe continues.
The Urban Development and Planning Department plays a key role at City Hall, overseeing development approvals, planning permissions, change-of-use applications, and enforcement of urban planning regulations across Nairobi.
