Following widespread online posts about a stolen Samsung S24, investigations established that the suspect captured in viral photos attempting to unlock the high-end phone resides in Dandora Phase 4, Kifarage area near Gituamba Bridge.

Efforts by police officers to trace and apprehend the suspect proved unsuccessful.

Consequently, officers opted to contact the suspect’s father and directed him to present his son together with the stolen mobile phone.

According to undercover police officer Saigon Punisher James, the suspect’s father—an elderly man in his early 70s—reported to Dandora Phase 3 Police Post and surrendered the stolen device.

He informed officers that his son had gone into hiding and could not be traced.

The father further explained that he had received the phone from an unidentified woman late in the evening, making it difficult for him to provide a clear description of her.

The rightful owner of the Samsung S24 was subsequently contacted and arrived at the police station accompanied by her husband.

The phone was officially handed back to her as investigations continue and police intensify the hunt for the suspected thief.
