Uhuru Tells Jubilee Party SG Jeremiah Kioni Not to Abuse Gachagua—You Must Respect Him Or Ship Out!

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a stern warning to Jubilee Party leaders who have developed a habit of insulting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Friday during a grassroots mobilization drive at Thika Greens, Uhuru—who serves as the Jubilee Party leader—said he would not tolerate members who attack other leaders under the guise of defending the party.

In particular, the former Head of State singled out Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, cautioning him against directing insults at Gachagua.

“Some of these leaders pretend to be defending Jubilee, yet they keep abusing Gachagua. I don’t want to hear such nonsense again. You hear me, Kioni? Anyone insulting Gachagua should leave the party. Everyone should focus on selling their own agenda,” Uhuru warned.

Kioni and former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu have in recent months been criticised for constantly attacking Gachagua, often claiming that he is not the Mt. Kenya political kingpin.

A tough-talking Uhuru told the two to either show respect to other leaders or leave the party altogether.

“It is either you respect other leaders, or you ship out of the party,” Uhuru said firmly.

The former president also underscored the need for a united opposition, stressing that every leader and political party should be free to sell their agenda without resorting to personal attacks.

Uhuru’s remarks come amid growing speculation within political circles that Kioni and Wambugu may be working with President William Ruto’s camp, allegedly to monitor and report on Jubilee Party activities.
